THE MERER STORY

A shirt is never just a piece of clothing. It is a statement. An expression of refinement, of respect for oneself and for others.

And our story begins exactly like that – with the desire to say something deeper through every cut, stitch, fabric.

Our story begins in 2012, when we created, under the name Hulber, our first shirt.

I studied the clothing culture of Italy and England, and since 2013 I have been among the first to bring traditional embroidered motifs back to the forefront, thus reinventing the white shirt with folk elements, a bridge between cultural heritage and contemporary aesthetics.

We grew organically, step by step: we built a dedicated team, efficient production and a pattern perfectly adapted to the Romanian man's body. We chose to control every stage of product management – ​​from the selection of fabrics (mostly sourced from Italy), to cutting, sewing, promotion and sales. Thus, we managed to maintain a balanced ratio between quality and the price offered to the customer.

In 2019, we felt it was time for a new identity. We rebranded the platform under a name that defines us: Merer, the name of our founder, Alin Merer.

But this name carries with it an older history than we might suspect.

Around 2,500 BC, in Ancient Egypt, Merer was the name of a team leader who supervised the transportation of limestone blocks for the construction of the Great Pyramid of Cheops – one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
This story deeply inspired us. Our symbol – the three golden pyramids in the logo – directly refers to the pyramids of Cheops, Khafre and Mikerinos, located on the Giza plateau. It is no coincidence that the gold in the graphics evokes not only the sand of Egypt, but also the nobility of a job well done.

Naturally, one of the most precious fabrics used in our manufacturing is Egyptian cotton – renowned for its finesse, durability and elegance. It is also found in an exclusive collection from one of our Italian suppliers, called Ghiza.

Today, Merer shirts are created for all occasions: from formal meetings, to special events or simply for days when you want to wear something that represents you. They are made from natural fibers and are available in both ready-to-wear and made-to-measure.

In November 2024, we opened the first Merer store in Promenada Mall, Bucharest – an elegant space where our shirts come to life alongside other carefully selected products for the lifestyle-loving man.

Merer is not just a brand. It is a tribute to the craftsmanship, discipline and dignity with which something lasting is built – shirt by shirt, story by story.

ABOUT US

Merer Design SRL is a 100% Romanian company, which started its activity in 2012, being among the pioneers of the online shirt sales market. We focus on the design, production and marketing of men's shirts. Our products are manufactured in Romania and are made, for the most part, from natural fibers. The fabrics used to make the shirts are certified. OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 (one of the most well-known certifications in the world for textile products tested for harmful substances). This standard guarantees that a textile product is safe for human health.

Own production unit in Bucharest (Bulevardul Energeticienilor 13-15, offices 215, 220, 223, 225)

We have developed our own production capacity in Bucharest to have better control over the quality of our products. Our team has the experience and resources necessary to create any shirt model, from any type of fabric, so as to meet the highest quality standards. In the vicinity of the workshop, customers can visit our showroom, where they can see the manufactured products, fabrics, collar and cuff models, etc. Here we also make custom-made shirts from a multitude of fabrics, mostly purchased from our Italian partners.

Online store (merer.ro)

Our main distribution channel is the platform www.merer.ro , a modern and secure sales platform, which offers a wide range of quality products, as well as customization options. Until October 2020, the online store operated on the hulber.ro platform, and since then, it has moved to the new merer.ro platform.

Physical store in Promenada Mall Bucharest Level 1 (Calea Floreasca 246 B, Floor 1)

After a presence of over 12 years on the online market in Romania, on November 26, 2024 we opened the first physical MERER store, located on the 1st floor of Promenada Mall Bucharest.

The store offers a wide range of authentic shirts, many of which are not available online: casual, business, ceremonial, but also models with traditional embroidered motifs. Customers can also discover a diverse selection of products dedicated to gifts for men, including:

• Leather pants, shoes and accessories;
• Ties, cufflinks, wool and cashmere sweaters;
• Perfumes;
• Writing instruments, cufflinks and leather accessories from luxury brands Montegrappa, Tateossian, Tibaldi ;
• Watches Mazzucato .

The shirts are available in both Ready to Wear (adapted for slim fit and regular body shapes), as well as Made-to-Measure (made to measure). Customers can choose from a selection of premium fabrics from renowned brands such as Cotonificio Ronghi, Albini, Thomas Mason and Carnet .

The new MERER SHOP wants to become the preferred destination for men who appreciate elegance, quality and refinement, but also for those looking for the ideal gift.
